Fall Color: First Frost
(11/4/2009)

Changing color in recipes changes the flavors.
A quick cobbler as the weather changes always works.

This time I use blue berries and king apples.

I leave out the sugar on the fruit.

For the topping: I use ground almond meal, splenda, and butter or smart balance in equal amounts, about 1/3 cup each. crumble the topping over fruit mix.

Bake about = hour at 350 degrees. This will be very liquid.

Cook another fifteen minutes, it will shrink some.

If your want a thicker sauce, use about a tablespoon of flour or corn starch in fruit before cooking.

Enjoy the outside color while the fruit cooks and chose one of the optional toppings: vanilla ice cream, plain yogurt with agave to sweeten, or clotted cream(sour cream with splenda). In case you are wondering, I am not using grain or sugar.
